Canvas Profile and Settings

Update your Canvas Profile and Settings

Add a profile image to your Canvas profile
Add your preferred email address to your Canvas settings
Set your preferred email as your default email by clicking the star to the right of the email address
If you wish to receive text message notifications from Canvas, add your cell number as well

The instructor will post announcements regularly throughout the semester, usually once or more per week
Please read announcements! They will highlight important information for the course
Get notified of Announcements by updating your Canvas Canvas Notifications to " Notify immediately" for Announcements.

The START HERE button on the Home page will lead you directly to the Math Orientation
Complete the Math Orientation during the first day of class to get oriented with:
- course Home page
- course syllabus
- emailing your instructor
- submitting a file for handwritten work
- completing math Homework online
- participating in Discussion boards

Homework

All the math assignments are listed by chapter on the Homework page.
Click "More Instruction" from inside a math assignment to access related textbook content, videos, or other helpful resources for that assignment
Math assignment deadlines are listed in multiple locations including
- Course Calendar linked on the Home page
- on the schedule page of the Syllabus
- on the Homework page linked on the Home page

Graded Discussions

Students should post at least 3 times per week to earn full credit
Bonus available for additional meaningful participation

Discussion Comments

Public comments from classmates and the instructor will be posted as a reply to your discussion post

- This is a student space; the instructor will not reply unless asked directly
Chapter Videos & Resources
- The instructor will share recommended videos and resources
- Students may also share valuable videos and resources
- Posting in the Chapter Videos & Resources Discussion is optional and bonus

Peer Reviews

Peer Reviews will be assigned automatically on Corrections assignments at the deadline of the assignment
Locate Peer Reviews

Open the assignment and look in the submission box, which is on either the right side or the bottom of the page
To view Peer Reviews, you must use a web browser such as Chrome or Firefox (NOT the Canvas App)

Complete Peer Reviews

Download the file submission and open the file
Open and complete the rubric, located in the top right side of the Peer Review page.
Type a meaningful Submission Comments which is designed to help your peer improve

Flexible Deadlines

Math Homework

It may happen that you cannot complete some math Homework by the deadline
If you are missing deadlines, expect to hear from your instructor. If you know you are getting behind on math Homework, reach out to your instructor first if possible
Math Homework submitted late will have a minor late penalty of 1% per day late to allow for flexible deadlines
Even if you submit math Homework a few days late, you can still earn a good grade on the assignment
Occasionally missing a deadline is not that bad. Try not to make a habit of late submissions, however, because this will lead to getting further and further behind in the course

Complete these assignments on time, as these assignments all carry steeper late penalties
